The
Catering Kitchen
"Matt Davis from 98 Rock here (Dave Sandler's
co-worker.) I never did get a chance to say how much I appreciate
the special accomodations that you made for me the night of the...wedding
reception. I was very sick and you made me as comfortable as you
possibly could have. I really appreciate that. Thank you."

>>> Specific
Information for CATERERS
Load-in/delivery begins three hours prior to the event start.
Please call Chase Court well in advance to arrange for the delivery
and pick up of your rentals.
Catering Kitchen Load-In and Load-Out
The Catering Kitchen has a separate entrance which opens onto Lovegrove Street,
the alley street that runs between Biddle and Chase Streets. Lovegrove is a
one way street running south, entered off of Biddle, which itself is one way
running east. (See the map.) You can
generally park a truck snug to the back of Chase Court for the duration of
the event. Note that there are several steep stairs to climb, so dollying in
is not possible. Please come to the Chase Street entrance and ring the doorbell,
or call (410) 727-1112 when you arrive to have the Catering Kitchen opened.
Catering load-in MUST
use the Lovegrove Street entrance.
The Catering Kitchen is equipped with a utility
sink, triple stainless sink, and enough room for two
eight-foot tables and one six-foot table. There are three separate 20 amp.
circuits.
Rules and Regulations
Please
note that you and your client are contractually bound to honor the
Chase Court Rules and Regulations.
Candles
Candle use MUST COMPLY with the Chase Court Rules
and Regulations.
Alcohol
If you intend to dispense alcohol you MUST HAVE a copy of your current Baltimore
City or State Liquor License on file at Chase Court. A State certified, trained
service person must be on the premises while alcohol is being served, and must
dispense it. Fax copies of licenses and certifications to (410) 727-6824.
Alcoholic beverage service MUST ALWAYS be discontinued at least 30 minutes
prior to the end of the event.
Recycling
With the advent of single-stream
recycling in the City of Baltimore, we are now
able to recycle glass, metal, plastic (marked 1-7) and clean paper, all in the
same
container.
Chase Court
provides large yellow recycling bins for your use at the bar and in the kitchen.
Bottles and cans do not have to be rinsed to be recycled. A separate pour-bucket
is nice but not required.
With the exception of beverage containers, food waste is NOT acceptable for recycling.
Here is the city's sample list:
Unacceptable
Recycling Material (Examples): plastic grocery bags, wire hangers, contaminated
paper and cardboard, waxed packages (juice boxes, etc.), paper napkins, towels,
plates and tissues, plastic cookware
or plates, yogurt/cottage cheese/margarine tubs, plastic
utensils, dry cleaning bags, foil, waxed paper, deli or
takeout cartons, foam or plastic packaging material, bottles
or cans used for toxic substances.
Full recycling bins can be placed outside on our 'back porch' for
city pickup.

>>> Specific
Information for PHOTOGRAPHERS
Chase Court is a wedding photographer's dream come true!
There are many excellent indoor and outdoor vantage points for
photography, including the balcony in the Ballroom and
the raised entry in the Bride's
Room. The fleur-de-lis-topped iron gates, many flower gardens,
wisteria-covered pergula, and Gothic Revival stone building provides
excellent backgrounds.
The Bride's Room has excellent
natural lighting, including two south-facing skylights. The Ballroom has
large south-facing windows glazed with translucent (but not transparent), diamond
leaded-glass. In the evening the light levels in the Ballroom are considerably
lower than in the daytime.
You may use the balcony over the entrance to the Catering Kitchen for making
images of guests in the Ballroom.
Access is via a ladder in the Catering Kitchen. It's helpful to let the caterer
know early-on in the event if you plan to use the balcony so they can keep
a clear path for you. You'll want at least a 17 mm lens, and a 14 mm
to if you want to shoot the room side to side.
Photographers may not step into any of the flower beds or walk
along the gray timbers at any time, for any reason.
The top of the cabinet across from the coat hooks off the foyer
makes a great at-the-ready stash space for your equipment.
Please plan to arrive no earlier than two hours prior to the
event start.
Videographers
Please
note, you MAY NOT use a constant light in the Ballroom.
Load-In and Load-Out
Load-in is from the street on Chase or St. Paul Street, depending
on where you find parking. It is generally not a good idea
to double park on either
street. You will need a dolly for heavy equipment, since it is 75 feet
minimum to the building, and you will need to go up three
steps to the door. It is
NOT possible to load-in from the parking lot adjacent to the building.
Note that the City of Baltimore vigorously enforces their
parking regulations.
Please park carefully. Parking on
Chase Street is free on Saturday and Sunday.

>>> Specific Information
for MUSICIANS AND DJs
Please plan to arrive no earlier than two hours prior to the event
start in order to allow the caterer to set up the room. If you expect
to be arriving less than 30 minutes before the start of the event, plan to
load in through the kitchen.
An
eight-foot covered table is generally provided for DJs. If you
need more or different tables, please be in touch with your client
or Chase Court WELL BEFORE the event.
Musicians and DJs typically set up in the northeast corner of the Ballroom,
diagonally facing into the room. The doors behind lead to storage and can be
blocked. The fireplace is frequently used, so equipment should not be placed
in front of it.
A floorplan is available here.
The acoustics in the Ballroom are excellent. Most of the time, sound reinforcement
is not required for bands.
Power
There are two 20-amp circuits available for your use. We have installed a
PS Audio
Power Port electrical receptacle as your prime receptacle to help you provide
the best possible sound.
Rules and Regulations
Please
note that you and your client are contractually bound to honor
the Chase Court Rules and
Regulations.
Load-In
and Load-Out
Load-in is from the street on Chase or St. Paul Street, depending on where
you find parking. Chase Street is the easier way. It is generally not a good
idea to double park on either street. YOU WILL NEED A
LARGE-DIAMETER-WHEELED DOLLY, since it is 75 feet (minimum) up the BRICKWALK
to the building, and you will
need to go up three steps to the door. It is NOT possible to load-in from the
parking lot adjacent to the building. Note that the City of Baltimore vigorously
enforces their parking regulations. Please park carefully. Most parking on
Chase Street is free on Saturday and Sunday.

>>> Specific Information
for FLORISTS
Please plan to arrive no earlier than two hours prior to
the event start in order to allow the caterer to place, cover, and
set up the tables and chairs. The maximum set-up time allowed is
three hours prior to the event. Set-up time exceeding three hours
and/or break-down time exceeding one hour (immediatly following the
event) is charged to the Client at the rate of $250 per hour or portion
thereof.
All floral arrangements must be picked up or taken with the bridal party at
the end of the evening. Chase Court is often happy to accept your leftover
arrangements to display during the following week for the benefit of our prospective
brides and grooms, providing such arrangements are in containers and easy to
move.
Please
plan to bring your own ladders if you plan to work on the chandeliers,
pergula, or wreath position over the fireplace (Note: there is
NO mantle over the fireplace).
A six-foot
ladder
is adequate to reach the wreath position and is the minimum size required to reach the chandeliers.
Please note that anything affixed to the chandeliers MUST BE REMOVED
BY THE FLORIST immediately following the end of the event.
You are responsible for keeping the floor dry and clear of debris during set-up.
Chase Court will provide a mop and broom for that purpose.
Anything affixed to the pergula MUST BE REMOVED BY THE FLORIST immediately
following the end of the event.
Loose flower pedals
may not be used in the Ballroom, the LIbrary, the Foyer or
anywhere else in the building, since they stain our floors. They are fine to
use outside in the garden.
A floorplan is
available here.
Rules and Regulations
Please
note that you and your client are contractually bound to honor
the Chase Court Rules and
Regulations. Of
particular note to florists are the following:
>>>Nothing may be affixed to the premises, including the walls, woodwork,
doors, and windows, by means of nails, screws, tacks, pins, tape, or any other
marking or marring
medium.
Candles
Candle use MUST COMPLY with the Chase Court Rules
and Regulations.
When in doubt about a candle container, use the fire department's ten-second
test: Light the candle and place a piece of tissue over the top of the candle.
If the tissue takes no less than ten seconds to light, it is an acceptable
container, provided it otherwise meets the Chase Court Rules
and Regulations.
Clean-up by Chase Court of candle wax dripped on the floor will be charged
to the Client at the rate of $150 per hour or portion thereof.

>>> Specific Information
for OFFICIANTS
Most ceremonies take place under the pergula in the Garden.
The openness of the Garden and the
sometimes-active Saint Paul Street behind it call for good vocal projection.
If you are at all in doubt about being heard, consider using a PA system. Please
also instruct guest readers to speak loudly and slowly.
Guests gather around the front and side of the pergula. It's usually a good
idea to begin by asking them to move closer to the pergula.
Attendants must be positioned along the back wall and left-back
(garden side) of the pergula in order to provide open sight lines for
the guests to see you and the bride and groom.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are usually scheduled for the Thursday or Friday evening prior to
the event. While most ceremonies are planned for the Garden,
it's generally a good idea to plan for a back-up ceremony in the Ballroom (or Library for
groups of under 25 people).
