Touring the New Hotel Indigo

LR-3513

Hotel Indigo is a fabulous new hotel just six blocks from Chase Court! The building started life as a YMCA and was most recently a teaching hotel. The new owners did a full-gut renovation, tens of millions of dollars worth, and the result is simply spectacular!

The architecture is majestic, just what you want a hotel to be, and just what you’d expect in the historic Mount Vernon neighborhood.

The inside is just as stunning as the outside. This is behind the open-air front desk.

There are lots of thoughtful details everywhere you look!

That’s custom Baltimore-themed wallpaper behind the big, beautiful bed. (Tip: Those same colors look great in the Chase Court ballroom!)

Love the carpet! Do you see how the pattern continues on the walls? Every part of the place is well thought out in that way.

The windows are huge, and many of them are original. I love how bright the rooms are!

There’s more original Baltimore art in the bathrooms! That’s a print of the Bromo Seltzer Tower being reflected in the mirror.

More cool carpet and hot orange!

There are huge photo murals of Baltimore scenes in the public seating areas and meeting spaces.

The photomural in the fitness center is a historic image from the building’s original use as a YMCA.

The hotel has a lovely a bar and restaurant, Poets,  adjacent to the lobby. It’s light and bright, very open plan, but still has a cozy feel to it. Outstanding for a rehearsal dinner. (Brunch is great in one of the private spaces!)

We’ve already had our first wedding party stay there. This is what the mother of the groom wrote on a five-star review on TripAdvisor:

“We stayed at this bright cheery hotel for our son’s wedding. From the moment we walked into the hotel the staff were friendly, helpful, and let us check in early. The room and beds were comfortable. The housekeeping staff kept the rooms very clean and very nice. Tiffany at the front desk was so helpful. There is a restaurant on the main floor that has a very good breakfast and great coffee.

The wedding guests had a small nighttime gathering in the library room off the main lobby, and it was the perfect place to have appetizers from the restaurant across the lobby and drinks from there.

We had a breakfast gathering the hotel put on with eggs, fruits, bagels, etc. the day after the wedding for guests before they left, in the conference room on the 9th floor. It was a hit with the guests. Great time to say goodbye.

Walking distance to great restaurants, coffee shops, museums, and a cab ride or Uber ride to the Inner Harbor, and for us a short distance to our lovely wedding venue, Chase Court.

Wonderful, cozy hotel. Modern, very soundproof rooms, but not too big, and wonderful staff. A hidden secret is the great salty chocolate chip cookies sold in a tiny soda/snack area near the front desk.”

We have to include the response from the General Manager!

Jason Curtis, General Manager at Hotel Indigo Baltimore – Mt. Vernon, responded to this review:

“Thanks for your review! I am glad you had an enjoyable wedding and that the hotel worked out perfectly for you and your guests.

Chase Court is a great place to have a wedding. So secluded and romantic! I am delighted that you enjoyed the hotel, the Library and our meeting space where your family was able to gather and socialize a bit.

Please come visit us soon!

Jason”

Thanks, and we completely agree with Jason!

Like our whole Mount Vernon/Midtown-Belvedere neighborhood, Hotel Indigo is LGBTQ-friendly.
