Our Commitment to the Environment
Chase Court is green! We’ve made a major commitment to preserving the environment, both in how we manage our space and in our support for you in producing green events.
There are many ways to address ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’, which is a big part of what going green is all about. As an event venue we’ve addressed it in large and small ways. The net result is that Chase Court is a pretty darn green venue. You can easily carry that into catering, decorating, guest housing and other planning considerations, to a greater or lesser effect, to do your part in taking care of the planet. (Here’s more on how to plan a green wedding!)
Our gardens are beautiful and abundant—and perennial! All of the plants in our gardens are sustainable perennials, replacing energy-intensive annuals. We’ve cut our use of annuals by 100% while improving the look and feel of our gardens. The majority of our perennials are sourced and grown locally.
From May through October — and for many events, all the rest of the year — you don’t have to add a single flower for a spectacular show!
Heating and Cooling
Our new HVAC units are high-efficiency, 18 SEER models using R410A refrigerant that does not contribute to ozone depletion. Seven of our eight HVAC are new in the last ten years.
We’ve installed LED and compact fluorescent light bulbs in our catering work areas and some of our indoor and outdoor light fixtures, significantly reducing our energy use and light bulb replacement.
We use battery-operated motion-controlled paper towel dispensers in our restrooms to maximize single-towel use and minimize waste.
We use low VOC paint for all of our outdoor and indoor painting projects.
The City of Baltimore has single-stream recycling. Our caterers are able to recycle glass, metal, plastic and paper on-site. Chase Court provides large yellow recycling bins to use at the bar and in the catering kitchen.
