On the Chase Court blog: How To Choose a Caterer For Your Wedding!

chasecourt.com/weddingblog

Wedding catering has a bad rap, sometimes deservedly so. There are lots of caterers in the business. Some are outstanding, and some provide what is often termed as “rubber chicken” or “banquet hall food,” with service and presentation to match. But it doesn’t have to be that way—and at Chase Court, it isn’t!

These six caterers, all of them approved caterers at Chase Court, offer a range of styles, menus, and price points. I promise that you won't be disappointed with any of them! There are more pics, and links, on our website.

In a tiny homage to Tim Curry à la Chase Court, we offer this fabulous event…

The couple wrote, “We're looking for a reception venue…and just want to have a fun, quirky party. We're still flexible on theme (currently, gothic/surrealist with blacks and blues… We'd like enough space to have activity stations (photo booth, entertainers, arts/craft table, party games, etc.) as well as a cocktail/food station area.”

They had a Dream Artist, a Magician, a photo booth, and the Palm Reader you see here! (And the bride wore a red dress!)

They wanted a fun reception, and they got one!

Cocktail-style catering by Absolutely Perfect Caterers.

Rental furniture and accessories and florals by Fiddlestix Florals.

Photo booth by JKI Entertainment.

There’s (much!) more about Chase Court on chasecourt.com.

Chase Court has been the venue for 78 LGBTQ+ weddings. Chase Court welcomes, honors, and affirms couples whose spirituality, sexuality, gender identities, racial identities, or ways of being are less accepted elsewhere.

There are packages for ceremony-only elopements, microweddings, and larger wedding ceremony and receptions, including eleven different elopement packages, ranging from all-inclusive to do-it- yourself, with packages for just the two of you, up to eight guests, up to 30 guests, and even up to 45 or 60 guests.

For larger weddings, Chase Court comfortably seats 125 guests for dinner in the great hall, and accommodates 150 guests, cocktail-style.

Chase Court is an amazing Baltimore wedding venue with traditional gothic architecture, but a decidedly non-traditional attitude! There’s an outstanding, private, (in the middle of the city!) ceremony garden, and a gorgeous historic church-like-without-being-a-church reception venue in the beautiful Mount Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore.

And you get more than just the venue. You get the knowledge, resources, and attention of a venue owner who has lived and breathed weddings through 24 years and over 900 weddings. That makes an incredible difference!

Visit our website to schedule a personal tour where we can talk about your wedding, and make your wedding planning easy and stress-free. Contact form on chasecourt.com.

On the Chase Court blog: Ten reasons to have your “courthouse” wedding ceremony at Chase Court in Baltimore, Maryland!

https://www.chasecourt.com/ten-reasons-to-have-your-courthouse-wedding-ceremony-at-chase-court-in-baltimore-maryland (or chasecourt.com/blog and look for the post).

Lots of couples are scaling back their weddings and considering having a small or very small wedding ceremony, with or without a reception.

We’ve been offering all-inclusive micro-weddings/elopements at Chase Court since the economic downturn in 2009. Over that time, through trial and error, we’ve created and refined a suite of eleven, all-inclusive, small and very small wedding packages, with a great selection of features and add-ons.

If you've been thinking about a courthouse wedding, I think you'll love the pros and cons comparison on the blog post!

By the way, we don't hold back on scheduling your microwedding. We love small weddings! You can schedule it for next week, next month, or next year!

Chase Court welcomes, honors, and affirms couples whose spirituality, sexuality, gender identities, racial identities, or ways of being are less accepted elsewhere. So there's never a worry about who you are, or what kind of wedding ceremony you're going to have.

We’ve reinvented elopement and elopement packages at Chase Court. Eloping used to be thought of as the quick and (more or less) dirty way to get married. We've turned that on its head. Elopements—which we now often refer to as microweddings—are luxury experiences at Chase Court, but without the luxury price tag of a 100 person wedding.

We have 11 different elopement packages, ranging from all-inclusive to do-it-yourself. We always include the fantastic venue, of course, with an outstanding, completely private ceremony garden, and a gorgeous, indoor rain and cold-weather plan. You never have to worry about the weather at Chase Court!

Ther’s also a great selection of available add-ons, including amazing live music; our wedding suite for getting ready; our state-of-the-art sound system for voice and music; and even a reception.

And it’s all remarkably inexpensive.

There are elopement packages for just the two of you, up to eight guests, up to 30 guests, and even up to 45 or 60 guests.

We have an outstanding group of professional wedding officiants, who will work with you in the weeks and months prior to your wedding to create a custom wedding ceremony with you. Or you can bring your own.

Our wedding photographers among the top wedding professionals in Baltimore. Couples are delighted with their work, and often contract with them to also photograph their reception. And, again, you can bring your own, if you prefer.

The list of top-level wedding professionals goes on, including fabulous florists, caterers (we have a great reception add-on!) and professional wedding musicians, including harpists, violinists, cellists, guitarists, and more.

By the way, we don't hold back on scheduling your microwedding. We love small weddings! You can schedule it for next week, next month, or next year!

Romance at Chase Court isn't confined to the spring, summer, and fall! Here's a magical winter wedding ceremony and reception photographed by an outstanding wedding photographer, showing off how fantastic and picture-perfect Chase Court can look in the cooler part of the year!

The weather was just warm enough to have their December wedding ceremony under the pergola in our magical ceremony garden! Radebaughs Florist dressed up the garden with blooms and extra greenery, giving it an absolute luxury look!

We also have an excellent rain plan available, with regular, ceremony-style seating, so people aren't sitting around their reception tables, craning their necks. And the decision to invoke the rain plan can be made as late as three hours ahead of your ceremony.

There are so many places at Chase Court to make memorable wedding photographs! Everyone loves the twinkle lights in the trees and on the pergola! (It’s all a permanent installation, saving you hundreds of dollars in decor cost.) And Inside, with the stained glass and the leaded glass, the woodwork, it’s a unique, historic, Gothic look. Perfect for a refined celebration that's not stuffy!

Chase Court is in the historic Mount Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore, which is full of outstanding 19th and 20th century architecture—fantastic for wedding photography!

You don't have to have 100 guests to have a fantastic wedding reception! This intimate, romantic, microwedding ceremony and reception for this couple and their eleven guests was perfect! They had their ceremony and cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in the garden, then moved inside for dinner.

Speaking of tours, that’s what we do: tours, and not open houses. Why? Because we think focusing on one couple, one wedding, one set of needs, desires and questions at a time is the best way to serve our couples.

Speaking of tours, that’s what we do: tours, and not open houses. Why? Because we think focusing on one couple, one wedding, one set of needs, desires and questions at a time is the best way to serve our couples.

Chase Court is an amazing Baltimore wedding venue with traditional architecture, but a decidedly non-traditional attitude! Every possible spirituality and non-spirituality is welcome.

Chase Court offers an outstanding, private, (in the middle of the city!) ceremony garden, and a gorgeous historic church-like-without-being-a-church reception venue in the beautiful Mount Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore.

There are packages for ceremony-only elopements, microweddings, and larger wedding ceremony and receptions.

There are eleven different elopement packages, ranging from all-inclusive to do-it- yourself, including packages for just the two of you, up to eight guests, up to 30 guests, and even up to 45 or 60 guests.

For larger weddings, Chase Court comfortably seats 125 guests for dinner in the great hall, and accommodates 150 guests, cocktail-style.

We’ve been the venue for nearly 80 LGBTQ+ weddings.

Chase Court welcomes, honors, and affirms couples whose spirituality, sexuality, gender identities, racial identities, or ways of being are less accepted elsewhere. So there`s never a worry about who you are, or what kind of wedding you`re going to have.

And you get more than just the venue. You get the knowledge, resources, and attention of a venue owner who has lived and breathed weddings through 23 years and over 900 weddings.

Call or write to schedule a personal tour where we can talk about your wedding, and make your wedding planning easy and stress-free. Inquiry form on chasecourt.com. Link in bio.

Happy New Year!

A wedding with 45 guests like this one can be just as wonderful as the 100+ variety! And this wedding was special in its own ways, with a drag queen officiant and a live band! And this wedding was special in its own ways, with a drag queen officiant and a live band!

The great hall of Chase Court was perfect for this intimate and romantic wedding for the 60 guests! (And it’s equally great for elegant corporate events and holiday parties!)

Chase Court was the winner in two categories in the 2025 Best of Baltimore Weddings Reader’s Poll: “Gardens” and “Eclectic And Unconventional,” and a finalist in the category of “Historic And Estate!”

These awards join over two dozen others that Chase Court has received since 2002, including a Wedding Of The Year award from the National Association for Catering and Events, several that recognize Chase Court for our LGBTQ+ weddings, and six(!) Best of Where to Elope awards!

Several of the Chase Court approved caterers and recommended wedding professionals also won in 2025!

Now is a good time to tour and book Chase Court, before the January just-engaged rush!

You don't have to have 100 guests to have a fantastic wedding reception! The intimate, romantic, microwedding ceremony and reception for this couple and their eleven guests was perfect! They had their ceremony and cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in the garden, then moved inside for dinner.

This is a great time to be working on your 2026 or 2027 wedding, before we get into the thick of the holiday engagement rush!

Chase Court is an amazing Baltimore wedding venue with traditional architecture, but a decidedly non-traditional attitude! Every possible spirituality and non-spirituality is welcome. We've had lots of handfastings. Cosplay happens. Relaxed, fun parties (aka receptions) are a thing here! We do wedding ceremonies in the stunning, clearing-in-the-forest outdoor garden, or in the beautiful Gothic great hall. Receptions happen inside and out.

In the ceremony garden at Chase Court there is a pond, and in the pond there are lots of colorful goldfish! The goldfish stay in the pond all winter, literally chilling out. They’ll become active and start feeding again in the warmer months.
