We have a new neighbor! This spectacular mansion at the corner of Calvert and Biddle Streets, three blocks from Chase Court, was built in 1889. It’s an outstanding building, with leaded glass windows, intricately carved wood wainscoting, 23 individual fireplaces, green marble mined from local quarries, and a magnificent central staircase that climbs three stories past stained glass windows. This incredible manse has just had a multi-million-dollar update and rehabilitation to become Baltimore’s first ultra-luxury boutique hotel—The Ivy Hotel.
The common rooms are anything but common!
My favorite place in this whole incredible building is this gorgeous window seat.
This is the original high-relief wallpaper and carved woodwork. Simply amazing…
The Ivy’s rooms – they call them “guest quarters” – are simply spectacular! There are only 18 of them, half of them suites like this one. They all have four-poster beds, fireplaces, and bathrooms that you’d love to take home…
There are chandeliers everywhere.
The hotel’s restaurant, Magdalena, has five different dining areas, all comfortably cozy and unique. They’d be perfect for stunning rehearsal dinners! (Or a very special pre-wedding girl’s night out!)
I love this intimate nook!
You just don’t see furnishings like this everywhere, never mind in restaurants!
The conservatory has a view into the private courtyard.
There’s also a quiet, calm spa in a secluded part of the hotel. Anyone can use the spa—you don’t have to be a hotel guest.
Our friends at Charm City Cakes made the perfect cake for The Ivy Hotel’s grand opening!
The Ivy Hotel is a very special place for your rehearsal dinner, pre-wedding preparations, and even a delightful start to your honeymoon!
Like our whole Mount Vernon/Midtown-Belvedere neighborhood, The Ivy is LGBTQ-friendly.
